All about Snoring
Have you ever been told by your partner that you snore during sleep? You should understand your partner is not making conversation, but she/he is actually complaining. Don't believe me? Ask them if they are fine with it.
Snoring is a very common sleep problem, and it affects males more frequently than females. It has a tendency to worsen with increasing age and weight. Snoring is caused when the flow of air between your mouth and throat is obstructed while you're asleep. There might be a variety of reasons causing this obstruction. The most common ones are:
- Poor Muscle tone in throat and tongue.
- Bulky throat tissue, which is often caused due to being overweight.
- Long soft palate or uvula.
However, occasional snoring is not very serious, but is surely a nuisance for your bed partner. And if you are a habitual snorer, you're not only disturbing the sleep of others close to you but also impair your own sleep quality. Most snorers will find stop snoring devices or stop snoring mouthpieces to be an inexpensive and effective aid in reducing snoring regardless of the reason behind your problem.
Also, habitual snorers are at risk of developing obstructive sleep apnoea, which is a potentially life-threatening medical condition. Generally, patients suffering from sleep apnoea are unaware of it because they think it's a common snoring problem. But there's a very thin distinctive line between just snoring and sleep apnoea. In such cases, it is advisable to get medical advice and investigate the different snoring solutions to get a good night's sleep.
